WOW!!!! This blows my mind. We do not have that store in our area, and thank God we do’t. It just shows ignorance will show it’s ugly face any place.

    That is insane! Wow.

Wow - that is insane…I am speechless. That is awful - Journeys better take some type of action against that employee…wow…

At the beginning of the story, I was thinking some ignorant employee typed that in, bad enough, but the idea that it is in the database in a list of the store’s generic “returner” choices …….. OMG, that is friggin rediculous!

So not cool. I’m glad this store is not in my area.

Well I do have this store in my area and I can proudly say I don’t shop there nor will I ever. So unacceptable in many ways!!!

Wow that is disgusting. It’s bad enough to think that the employee typed that in herself but to find out that it’s a generic code programmed into the register? That is one of the most absurd things I’ve ever seen in my life. I have never shopped there, but have seen it in our mall…now I know to stay clear away.

  9. AuntTeeTee @ November 6th, 2008

oh wow….my first thought at the end was how could this even be programmed into their system?!! And then on top of that an employee would actually choose to use it?! This is absolutely horrible. I have never shopped there only window shopped, but they definitely will never get my business and I will not allow my kids in there again.

    Thanks for posting this!

Wow…I’m totally shocked. I am shocked when the father said that the employee got to pick that from a list of options. Okay? First, what is up with the store putting that in there as an option? Second, what stupid idiot is heartless enough to pick that choice. If I was an employee and saw that (yes, I’m the rock the boat type) I’d be inquiring as to that option. I don’t know if Dallas has these stores…but you can bet I won’t let my kid shop there. (Cause I’m thinking we have them and I’ve seen them in the mall). All I can say is ignorance is running rampant these days!

I heard about this, maybe b/c I am from KC….everytime I’ve been to Journeys they are beyond rude too…

  12. staceycapps @ November 6th, 2008

Journey’s is always too expensive too.

  13. crystal08 @ November 6th, 2008

wow that’s insane! i honestly don’t think that it’s a generic response that’s in the system, no company can be that stupid, that had to have been something that the guy workin at the store typed in, that was prolly his cover story…no way that’s in the system… i’ve returned a pair of shoes to journeys and they typed in my name, it wasn’t in the system cuz the dude spelt it wrong and it was right in the system because i had had to the pair of shoes mailed to be because they didn’t have them in stock so yeah… but still… that’s ridiculous, im just glad they noticed it..

Ok first of all and completely unrelated to your blog I saw your wedding pictures! I can’t believe the day already arrived…it seemed like you were planning the wedding just yesterday!! You looked beautiful and your honey looked so happy!! Congratulations and may God bless your love and your marriage.

Ok….about your blog….before we go banning stores in our already terrible economy, let’s consider the following—first the title of your blog—you said you were SHOCKED and ENRAGED. OMG is that the understatement of the year!!!

It literally hurts my heart that here we are in the midst of a historical time and people would continue to degrade others because of the color of their skin or sexual preference.

I can’t even think of the word to describe these people….and you know that’s because there is no word to describe them. I can’t be mad at them, I can only pity them for their ignorance and stupidity.

I don’t hold Journey’s Responsible, I hold the employee(s) responsible. I doubt that a place like Journeys would, in this day and age, risk not only losing customers but also opening themselves up to a law suit and of course, bad press. Seriously. I don’t want you to stop shopping at one of your favorite stores only because one of its employees happens to be a racist. The thing is, that there are a lot of ignorant people out there and all we can do is keep moving forward, fighting on and helping each other out.

I can’t say that I am shocked either…you wouldn’t believe the number of people I thought I KNEW well, only to find during the Presidential Campaign that they were bigoted and ignorant and just plain hateful!

My suspicion is that we will see more of this, not less in the coming months, but I also know that as a nation we are moving in the right direction….and maybe not in our lifetime, but in our grandchildren’s lifetime, there will be peace and unity between the races.

What happened to this young man is so disheartening!
